Houthis Intensify Military Operations Against Israel

(MENAFN) The Yemeni Houthi group declared on Sunday its decision to "escalate" its military actions and launch the fourth phase of its "naval blockade" against Israel, in reaction to the ongoing atrocities in the Gaza Strip.

In an official statement from the group's armed forces, the Houthis explained that this new phase "includes targeting all ships belonging to any company that engages with Israeli ports, regardless of the company’s nationality or the geographical location that our armed forces can reach."

The statement urged "all companies to immediately halt their operations with Israeli ports from the moment this announcement is made."

It further cautioned that their vessels "may be struck, no matter their destination, in any area within range of our missiles or drones."

The group also called on "all nations, if they wish to avoid this escalation, to pressure the enemy to cease its attacks and lift the siege on Gaza. No free individual on earth can condone what is happening."

Since Israeli forces resumed strikes on Gaza in March after a fragile ceasefire, the Houthis have increased their missile and drone attacks on Israel.

Additionally, since November 2023, the group has expanded its targets to include commercial ships in the Red Sea, Gulf of Aden, and the Arabian Sea, all as part of their support for Palestinians in Gaza, where over 59,800 people have been killed in the ongoing Israeli assault.
